This is my message for Sunday:
(I usually do 3 short messages, this is just one of them)
JOHN 12:12-16
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was comingto Jerusalem,13Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried , Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that comethin the name of the Lord.14And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon ; as it iswritten , 15Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold , thy King cometh , sitting on an ass's colt.16These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified , then remembered they that these things were writtenof him, and that they had done these things unto him

WHY DID JESUS WANT A DONKEY TO RIDE INTO JERUSALEM. WHY NOT A MIGHTY STEAD, A HUGE WAR HORSE?
WHEN JESUS RODE INTO THE TOWN, HE WAS LETTING PEOPLE KNOW THAT HE WAS THE KING. NOT JUST ANY KING, BUT THE KING OF KINGS. UP UNTIL THEN HE DIDN’T TELL ANYONE THAT HE WAS THE KING THEY HAD BEEN WAITING FOR. THE JEWISH PEOPLE HAD BEEN TOLD TO EXPECT A KING THAT WOULD DELIVER THEM FROM THE EVIL KINGS OF THEIR TIME. SO HERE COMES JESUS, BASICALLY LETTING THEM KNOW THAT HE WAS THAT KING. HOWEVER, HE DIDN’T COME IN RIDING A WAR HORSE, BUT A DONKEY.

TODAY MOST PEOPLE THINK OF DONKEYS AS STUBBORN AND CARTOONISH. WE’D MUCH RATHER RIDE A MAGNIFICENT HORSE. BUT IN BIBLICAL TIMES THE DONKEY WAS USED AS A SYMBOL OF PEACE. WHEN A KING RODE A HORSE INTO TOWN IT WAS DURING TIMES OF WAR, TO SHOW THEY HAD CONQUERED THE ENEMIES OR WERE GOING TO WAR. BUT THE DONKEY WAS TO SHOW THE PEOPLE THAT THEY WERE AT A TIME OF PEACE. JESUS IS THE PRINCE OF PEACE, AS WELL AS THE KING OF KINGS. HE WAS SHOWING THEM HE WAS THE PRINCE OF PEACE RATHER THAN THE CAPTAIN OF THE ARMY.

HE CAME TO BRING US PEACE AND EVEN IN THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY, WITH ALL THE WARS AND EVIL THAT IS IN THE WORLD WE CAN STILL KNOW HIS PEACE.
