Hubby went into the new hives yesterday. I wish I had a camera. The queen cages had 2 feet of bees on them when he lifted them up. They were in a long string. The queen and three workers are in a little cage made of wood and screen. There is what they call candy in the end holding her in. You remove the cork that was there for shipping. They eat their way out on one side and the other bees release her by eating form the other side. Now remember that there are 10000 bees per hive. You have to have nerves of steel in my thinking to even go near one but hubby says just remain calm and do not slap at them and you are fine. If you blow at one then they will leave. They were not flying really well yesterday because it was overcast and under 70 degrees. I will take a pic of the cages when he takes them out of the hives. I will also take pictures of all the hive parts and some of the equipment that you will need.
In the picture below is the feeder and you can see the bees on the hive.

go to the icon on top that has the computer screen and disk. browse thru the pics and pick one. host it. Then pic thumbnail or the other one and the pic shows up. If you pick the url it does like it did in the pig one and takes you to a pic on a seprate paage.
