Howdy All! Empty Howdy All!

Post by Dyson on Thu Oct 20, 2011 7:43 am

Good day to you folks...

Stepping in to see what it's all about... I'm from NC and looking for the light... Have a long way to go to be self-sufficient and hope to pick up some good ideas where I can. With all glory to God, may I learn enough to be of service where needed...

Recognize some screen names from HT and BI here... Hope you all are well...

Welcome, Dyson! Glad you could join us here.

I'm a long way from self-sufficient, but we're getting fairly close to family sufficient.

Hi Dyson. We're glad you joined us. I don't think any of us can be totally self sufficient, but the Lord has provided us all we need to live off the land. This site is to share with one another and learn together. Looking forward to your input.

Hi Sawmill Jim. Glad to see you posting here. Yep, Ernie is one to keep an eye on, but it's refreshing to see other Christians who are seeing danger in our current situation, and are trying to help others see that our true help comes from the Lord.

I'm limiting myself in forums too, but I recently decided that some of the secular ones have got to go.

Running a few errands and I plan on a nice long nap in the afternoon. I've got a corned beef pulled out to thaw for dinner. I'll probably get it going in the oven and let Jake keep an eye on it while I nap. He can add the veggies a couple hours before the meat will get done. I picked up a yummy Boston Creme cake with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert today at the store on special for $5 (I was going to have him bake one but I couldn't resist the strawberries or the price). Wink

Welcome Dyson, glad to have you join us. Self sufficient living means different things to different people. For me and my family it means minimizing dependence on stores and energy suppliers (gas and electric). Since it is unlikely that you own a salt mine, and since producing your own flour and corn meal costs more to produce on a small scale than they can be purchased for being truly self sufficient is not realistic. However, financial and food independence are easily achieved by anyone with room to grow even a few things, and anyone who is willing to work towards that goal.
