Have any of you tried Eggies?

Post by Sonshine on Tue Sep 13, 2011 1:53 am

I love fresh eggs, but I hate trying to shell them after boiling them. Joe bought me some Eggies. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm hoping it will take care of the problem of fresh eggs and how the shells stick to them when boiling.

If they stick to the shell Sonshine they are really fresh. They say to leave them at room temp for 2 to 3 days before boiling. there is so much protein in the whites from fresh eggs that it sticks. The ons in the store are somtimes 2 to 3 weeks old before they are put out. That is why they say to put them on the counter one day at room temp is about equal to one week in a fridge. I gave some to a friend and she gave them to her mom with out telling her they were fresh. She was making deviled eggs and they were a mess since they were so fresh.

That's why we decided to try eggies. I like them fresh, but making boiled eggs is a disaster with them. With the eggies you crack the egg into an egg shaped mold and then put the mold in boiling water. It's suppose to slide right out, but I haven't tried them yet.

I've seen the Eggies advertised. I wondered if they really worked. When you do use them will you let us know how well they work. I'd like to have some if they work as advertised. I don't like peeling eggs either. Smile

I hate trying to peel them so much that I just poach the eggs instead.

Yeah, but I love deviled eggs and like putting boiled eggs in salads and such.

Yep, they won't work for that, just for egg salad.

I wondered if they would work with frozen eggs so you can boil them for salads like potato and egg. I freeze my surplus eggs in anticipation of molting season and it would be nice to be able to thaw some out and boil them since I use a lot of boiled eggs in my recipes.

I forgot about this thread. RebelDigger, glad you posted on it. Smile I have finally tried the eggies and love them. It does make the deviled eggs look a bit weird though because you use the whole egg instead of cutting them in half. But no more sticking to the shells. YAY! I'm sure it would work with the frozen eggs too.

Thanks for telling us about eggies. I had heard of them but have never tried them.
