Welcome to Soapmaking!!!!!!
Welcome to the Soapmaking forum. My name is Patricia. I have expirence making Lye Soap and Glycerin Soap. At one point I wanted to start my own soap company. I have everything from the scale to the molds. Even though I had my DBA, time was an issue so it turned into more of a hobby for me.
The main thing to keep is mind when making soap is SAFETY. Always be safe and work slowly. Use safety equipment and do a lot of research. The last thing you want to do in the middle of a batch is have to look something up on the internet!!!! Ask me how I know???!!!! Lye burns should be taken care of right away with a baking soda solution. Trust me on this one too......
I am a firm believer that there are no Stupid questions. Comments are Always welcome. Personal attacks are not. We are all here to learn and we all have something to offer. If you have a problem or question feel free to PM me. PM is a private message. If you look to the Right of this message you will see an Icon under my angel of a person with a 'mp' next to them. If you click this Icon you can send me a message privately.
So have fun and stay clean!!!!

Welcome Mrs. Homesteader, I am glad you are going to help moderate this forum. Things are slow now but I am sure together we can get it foaming..... I love using Soap puns... Tell us about yourself and your interests....... P

Re: Welcome to Soapmaking!!!!!!
Most of the soaps I have made are in the lye category. I have done a lot of rebatching. I had goats and so goats milk was the norm for my soaps. I plan on doing some soap once we are getting milk from this cow. I want to try jersey milk for soap.
I have also made something called soap jelly which is sort of like a soft soap, but not as runny. We used it for awhile in the laundry.
I am working on a recipe right now for a shampoo bar. Someone gave me one and I am loving it.
